How To Simply and Quickly Remove DRM from iTunes Video/Music
This post will explain how to remove the DRM protection from iTunes media files (HD Movies, HD TV Shows, Music etc) simply and very quickly.
The process takes –
30 second for song
3 minutes for tv show
10 minutes for movie

WHAT YOU NEED

For Mac OSX:
- You will need to have iTunes 9.0.2 | 9.1.1 | 9.1 and Quicktime 7.6 installed on your computer
- you need to download Requiem 1.8.16, 1.8.17 OR 1.9.2 (Link is provide below)

For Windows:
- You will need to have iTunes 8.1 and Quicktime 7.6 installed on your computer

- Java will need to be intall on your computer.

Requiem is a program that removes Apple’s DRM (called FairPlay) from songs/videos purchased via iTunes, so they can be played on non-Apple-approved devices like – Popcorn Hour A110 etc.. or they can be played on any other device capable.
The DRM removal is a lossless process – it is merely decrypting the file, not decoding and reencoding it.
Requiem must be run on a computer that is currently authorized to play the DRM’d content.

HOW TO USE
Mac OS X:
- Download the content (Videos/Music) you want from iTunes.
- Authorize the machine to play content.
- IMPORTANT: PLAY the file you want to decrypt!!

- Navigate to – Requiem-1.8.17/mac/
- launch the RequiemDroplet app

- Go back to iTunes and Right click the file.
- Select Get Info and it will show you where the file is stored on your hard drive, then go to that folder.
- Now all you need to do is drag and drop the download iTunes file on to RequiemDroplet dock icon.
- Sit back and let it do it thing.

- launch Requiem.jar by double clicking.

- Go back to iTunes and Right click the file.
- Select Get Info and it will show you where the file is stored on your hard drive, then go to that folder.

- Now go to the Requiem.jar applictaion that you opened.
- Add the iTunes file by select the + button, browse to folder from above.
- The hit the Decrypt button.
- Sit back and let it do it thing.

Instant iTunes 
I updated ltunes to 9.0.3 and requiem doesn’t work anymore with the new files downloaded with the new itunes. Previous videos still work though.
How can i do to fix this? I’ve already tried to downgrade to itunes 9.0.2 but for the files that I downloaded with 9.0.3. it doesn’t work either…
Are you using Windows or Mac, as windows will not work on any iTunes other than 8.1.
If you are on Mac then iTunes 9.0.3 should be ok I have tested and works fine for me.
If you are on mac and are downgrading iTunes from 9.0.3 to 9.0.2 then you need to remove(or rename) every thing related
to iTunes 9.0.3.
iTunes Music Library.xml
iTunes Library
iTunes Library Extras.itdb
iTunes Library Genius.itdb
These can be found in – Users/–YOURNAME–/Music/iTunes
This means that you will need to reload all music/movie/tv shows etc into iTunes again as if for the first time
But then you should be able to play all files even the ones downloaded with 9.0.3
if you can play them in 9.0.2 then Requiem 1.8.16 will be able to remove the DRM.

Thanks for your reply. I’m on a Mac. Upgrading to 9.0.3. did not work for me. I haven’t downgraded to 9.0.2 using your method yet. I will let you know if it works
This does not work for me. I’m getting:
‘The following files could not be decrypted:
/Users/username/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/artist/song.m4p (WARNING: possible sidb format change 70007)’
I get this for all of my files (there’s about 20 or so.
This happens with either the applet or the jar file. I was planning to downgrade but since this site verified functionality with 9.03, I did not. I have tried:
– decrypting with iTunes closed
– decrypting with iTunes open
– decrypting with iTunes open and playing one of the songs
Thoughts?
I tested and confirmed that it works on 9.0.3, But this is on Mac OS X only with Requiem 1.8.17 only.
The reason it still works with 9.0.3 is explain on the Requiem support forum –
” It isn’t really the iTunes version that matters, but which version of iTunes wrote the keystore file (/Users/Shared/SC Info/SC Info.sidb). You can have an older version of the keystore file and Requiem will still work. It seems that iTunes writes a new keystore file only when you get issued a new key. You can often get away without getting a new key for a while, until Apple decides to give you a new one during some purchase. They can give you a new key any time, but will always do it on the next purchase after you’ve deauthorized a machine.”
So if you are using Mac OS X with Requiem 1.8.17 and it doesn’t work then or option are –
Wait until update for Requiem comes out
OR
Completely remove iTunes from your system and install the last version of iTunes that Requiem works with.

– I use OS X 10.5
– I used Requiem 1.8.17
– I have not purchased anything from the iTunes store for 6 months or more so I have no reason to suspect that my key is different. I have reinstalled my OS and had to reauthenticate some songs, so if that triggered it… perhaps this is the reason?
In any case, it’s not working with 9.03, 1.8.17, and OS X which means something must be goofy, so basically my options are to wait for Requiem or uninstall iTunes.
If I uninstall iTunes, do I need to trash anything other than:
– /Applications/iTunes
– /Users/username/Library/iTunes
?
I will copy my music folder to the Desktop and re-import after installing 9.02 which I downloaded.

It should work but just be warned that it might not, and you’ll have to wait for Requeim update.
To remove and install iTunes again
You can trash
/Applications/iTunes
You should then delete or rename & move everything in –
Users/UserName/Music/iTunes
iTunes Music Library.xml
iTunes Library
iTunes Library Extras.itdb
iTunes Library Genius.itdb
Also
I would rename & move the SC Info.sidb file, which is found in –
/Users/Shared/SC Info/
In oder to view this folder, you must enable viewing hidden files.
To do this open Terminal and type
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles true
then
Killall Finder
you will now be able to see all hidden files.
Rename and move the 2 files (But don’t delete them, as you may need to put them back if things don’t work)

I’m trying to run my iTunes file thru Requiem 1.8.16 and iTunes 9

My MBP is quote new, and when I first runned some iTunes stuff thru requiem, it all worked. But then I did a software update and had the totally newest version of iTunes. But now of course I have deleted that and gone back to what was familiar to me. But it just won’t work anymore.
I’ve tried several Requiem versions which all should work. Like Requiem 1.8.13 which is totally iTunes 9 friendly. Then then Requiem 1.8.16 which worked like a lightning on the sky before, but after software update. Doesn’t anymore. And then the latest, Requiem 1.8.17 which should be exactly the dope her, But nothing.. Is there Requiem 1.8.18 I see some…But no decent DL_Link.
Maybe there is some sort of weed stucked somewhere?

Btw @John I notice that u’re situation is quote same like mine.
The newest iTunes complete breaks Requiem, also De-authorizing and authoring will not help in fact it will most likely break requiem functionality as it will update the key that iTunes uses to decrypt the video files.
There will be an update to Requiem for the iTunes 9.1 on the Mac anytime so you’ll have to wait for the release.
after i decrypt, whats the best way to import back into itunes without creating duplicates?
